Nordicity and New Media Manitoba launch The New Media Census: a three-phase project to assess and advance Manitoba's new media industry
Posted by Nordicity in Winnipeg on Jan 05, 2012

WINNIPEG – January 2012 – Nordicity and New Media Manitoba (NMM) have launched The New Media Census: a three-phase project to assess and advance Manitoba's flourishing new media industry.

  • Phase 1 A sector-specific census and profile of the Manitoba new media industry to date.
  • Phase 2 An economic impact assessment of the Manitoba new media industry from 2011.
  • Phase 3 A forward-looking strategy for the Manitoba new media industry.

The Census will be the first time that anyone has succeeded in determining the impact new media has on the province of Manitoba. The responses provided in this census will directly answer the question of "why does work in new media matter," and "why should anyone care about new media as an industry?" and will support NMM's on-going efforts to stimulate growth in Manitoba's new media industry.

As part of this engagement, Nordicity and New Media Manitoba have made use of social media to discuss issues and disseminate the survey's message:

  • The Interactive Forum: Raise and respond to industry issues on the Corkboard
  • Twitter: Tweet your comments using the hashtag #NMMcensus
  • Facebook: Like and comment on industry issues discussions at the NMM Facebook Page
