Ottawa – April 3, 2009 – The Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago retained PricewaterhouseCoopers and its partners Nordicity Group and Fasken Martineau to design and manage a manual simultaneous multiple-round (SMR) auction process for broadband wireless access (BWA) services. Held in April 2009, the auction event resulted in the award of licensing of 26 blocks in three bands: 700MHz (6 blocks), 2.3 GHz (12 blocks) and 2.5 GHz (18 blocks). Stuart Jack of Nordicity, as Auction Manager, led the team in managing process and risk factors. Laurie Dunbar of Fasken provided legal advice and PwC, project and client management.

The manual SMR auction provided the Authority with a transparent, cost efficient and timely process with which to license new applications, encourage the candidature of new entrants and establish market-based prices for the spectrum resource.
