Posted by Nordicity in Toronto on Feb 02, 2015

STRATFORD – JANUARY 2015 – The City of Stratford and the newly created Stratford Economic Enterprise Development Corporation (SEED Co.), are working with Nordicity ( to carry out a study to assess the opportunities for the development of the Digital Media industry in Stratford.

Stratford’s Digital Media Strategy will support cohesion and collaboration between the city’s multi-sector digital media industry. When completed, the strategy will be used as a guide to support the development of policies, programs, partnerships, and initiatives that will ensure the City reaches its greatest potential as a vibrant digital community. The ultimate goal is to grow Stratford’s digital media economy and create new jobs in Stratford and the surrounding area.

SEED Co. CEO Marlene Coffey says, “Stratford has a proven record built on progressive companies leading in the global economy.  Already well positioned within Stratford’s own Rhyzome Networks, the University of Waterloo Stratford Campus and Accelerator Centre, Stratford Economic Enterprise Development Corporation (SEED Co.) is working with the community to advance a strengthened economic region in the digital economy.”

Nordicity Director, Kristian Roberts says, “Nordicity is pleased to have the opportunity to work with SEED Co. and the City to explore the many potential ways the digital media, technology and software can contribute to Stratford’s economic, social and cultural growth.  Our team is looking forward to engaging with local entrepreneurs, community leaders and anyone else interested in how Stratford can become recognized as a hub for the development of digital technologies.”

Stratford’s Digital Media Strategy will identify strategies and actions to strengthen and enhance Stratford’s diverse digital media industry. The strategy will include the development of an asset map, charting the City’s digital media companies and will include key stakeholder consultations and a competitive analysis.

As part of this engagement, SEED Co. and Nordicity are also inviting interested members of the public to a consultation event - Stratford’s Digital Future: An Open Forum - on the evening of Wednesday February 11th at University of Waterloo-Stratford Campus.
