Nordicity to Conduct Research on the Value of the British Council’s Cultural Capital

The British Council aims to better understand the value of cultural, social, and human capital generated by its programmes and interventions. As intangible assets that are often overlooked, Nordicity will be assisting the British Council in improving its ability to value such capital, streamline its benefits, and incorporate it into the organization’s evidence base to influence future strategy. Ultimately, findings from this work will serve as a vehicle for policy discussion regarding the importance of cultural relations for the UK.

Using a practical, mixed-method approach, Nordicity will leverage existing empirical evidence to support the quantifying of value of select British Council cultural-capital assets. This approach will include qualitative and quantitative investigation, research, and analysis, bolstered through engagement with specialists and other key stakeholders in the field of cultural relations. With specialist advice from cultural policy expert Tamsin Cox of DHA Communications, this research will seek to create objective, useful, new insight to help the Council to further its work for maximum impact, as well as to further validate cultural relations as a critical practice for facing an unpredictable future.

Nordicity West is leading this research. Contact project lead, Carly Frey, for more information on this work.
