Daniela Jaramillo

To understand people, we don’t need to study them – we just need to listen to them. For me, people have always been and will always be the best part of every job.
Daniela is a creative, collaborative researcher and critical thinker who always approaches her work with curiosity and an eye for good design.
With a background in sociology, economics, and gender studies, Daniela contributes to projects that support community empowerment, economic development, and equity within the cultural and creative sectors. Prior to joining Nordicity, she advocated for migrant workers’ rights as a settlement worker in Vancouver, bridging policy and community initiatives.
In addition to her interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree from Quest University Canada, Daniela holds certificates in data visualization and design from Emily Carr University of Art + Design. She is fluent in Spanish and English, with conversational proficiency in Portuguese and French.
Daniela believes in culture’s power to transform and drive social change. She grounds her practice in decolonial and feminist approaches and is continually working to more deeply integrate sustainability into her work.
Born and raised in Colombia, and now calling Montreal home, Daniela continues to live her passion for art (especially public art!), languages, and cultural exchange. She is also part of a sustainable farming initiative in Colombia, where she nurtures her love of food and commitment to food sovereignty.
